"Is it- is it working? I can't see..."

~ Libby

The Last Day of Winter  follows two friends, Sadie and Libby, as they go on a walk to see the sunset on the last day of winter.

This film was produced as part of the 20-21 BFI Kent Film Academy, in partnership with Folkestone-based production company Screen South. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the films on the course were worked on and recorded remotely over Zoom.

Unlike the other films produced this year on the course, The Last Day of Winter  had the added challenge of taking place completely outside. This presented many logistical and practical challenges before we even got to the shoot day. As producer, it was my job to work these problems and come up with potential solutions. These included issues involving the sunset, weather, phone service and use of mobile data. In the end, we were able to successfully overcome these challenges and complete production of the film.

At the final showcasing event for all films produced on the course, The Last Day of Winter  received 4.5 stars out of 5.

The other film I worked on during this course, Unfiltered, can be found here.
