This site is no longer updated!

As you can probably tell by the large banners plastered all over this site, I've recently made the decision to move over to a new portfolio.
I started documenting my creative work here on thomasmccarthy.net back in 2020, shortly after being accepted into the 20/21 BFI Film Academy. And, truth be told, I hadn't anticipated having as many amazing opportunities as I have these last few years! Naturally this site has grown over time, and, due to the nature of Google Sites, each subsequent update takes just a little bit longer than the one before it. While this was no issue back when I only had a few projects under my belt, with my credits list now (somehow) surpassing 50 productions across film, theatre and audio, it has become quite the task keeping it up-to-date!
Another equally important reason for this change is the gradual shift in focus that has happened since starting this site. Originally this was my film portfolio, with a few theatre credits thrown in from my time at secondary school. Hence why 'Film' is the top category, with theatre and audio bundled in together. Since starting university, my love for theatre has brought it very much to the forefront of what I do, with my technical theatre work, and subsequently lighting design, now being where I spend most of my time.
My new portfolio site, which can currently be found at theatre.thomasmccarthy.net, streamlines my work to focus on what I'm most passionate about. Credits are simplified into a filterable list, with each production granted a single photo alongside key credits, thereby removing the need to sift through the essays featured on this site. With the launch of my creative Instagram in 2024, I have found this serves more appropriately as a place to write about my work and share production images, allowing my portfolio to be cut down into a more digestible list.
With the new site, I've also made the decision to drop my acting credits, alongside my film, photography, and audio work. While I will of course still be pursuing these areas on an amateur level (and posting about them on my creative account, no doubt), they are no longer as relevant to the work I am pursuing professionally. Thereby cutting the current number of listed credits from 52 down to just 28 - which is far more readable!
This site will remain active for a good while, mostly for my own benefit. In the future the new site will likely take over the thomasmccarthy.net domain, but for now I'm happy with it where it is.
Anyway, why not go check it out?
